Student Funding Officer

Bursaries, scholarships and Free College Meals remove barriers to learning and the Student Funding Officer plays a critical part in distributing financial, meal and other support to learners. They will: accurately assess eligibility and process applications for all student financial support schemes across the UCS College Group; including, but not limited to: 16-19 Bursary, Free College Meals, Vulnerable Bursary, Care to Learn Scheme, 19+ Learner Support Fund, Advanced Learner Loan Bursary, Residential Bursary and Higher Education Bursaries; respond promptly and professionally to queries from students, staff, and external stakeholders regarding all financial support schemes at UCS College Group, including information and guidance on HE Student Finance and NHS Grants; offer clear, accurate advice to students, parents and guardians on available funding options, application processes and eligibility criteria; maintain accurate records, ensuring all awards, payments and supporting documentation are recorded in line with audit and compliance requirements; liaise with the Finance Department to ensure timely disbursement of funds and solve any payment discrepancies; keep up to date with government funding regulations and College policies, applying them consistently to maintain compliance; signpost students and staff to wider support mechanisms available across the College Group from the wider Student Experience Team; provide excellent customer service to students, colleagues, parents and guardians; support the communication and publicity of student finance options to ensure all staff, students, and parent / guardians have a good understanding of the funds available and how to access them; ensure that the most vulnerable students accessing the Student Funding Office are signposted to appropriate support across Student Experience or as appropriate; represent the Student Funding Team at open days, open evenings, and other promotional events as required.
